When it comes to everything you know about lead magnets, take a piece of advice from the wise Yoda: “You must unlearn what you have learned.”
For those who don’t know, a lead magnet is anything you offer a potential prospect in exchange for their contact information. It’s as simple as having a specific solution that solves a precise problem for a target segment of your market. Ideally, producers will find value within the first five minutes of the opt-in.
An effective lead magnet does not have to be lengthy, take hours to create or be complex. You do not need to…
- Have a dedicated staff for content creation.
- Write a massive 20-page white paper backed by research — as Yoda would say, “Size matters not.”
- Film an entire video series or a mini course.

You can create a lead magnet that will make producers you’re trying to attract say to themselves, “If this is what they give away for free, I can’t imagine what I’ll have access to when I contract with them.”
Your mind is clouded by the Dark Side if you’re thinking to yourself, “I could never create something like that. I’m busy and I don’t have the time.”
Five High-Value Lead Magnets You Can Create in 30 Minutes (or Less!)
1. White Paper or Report (estimated time: 30 minutes)
White papers are great at establishing thought leadership and are focused on solving a specific problem. If your company has a blog, you might already have a white paper created; you just don’t know it yet.
You can turn one of your most popular posts or an article you’ve written (if you have permission from the publication) into a PDF. All you have to do is copy and paste the post into a Word document and save it as a PDF.
2. Checklist (estimated time: 15-20 minutes)
A checklist is one of the easiest pieces of content you can create, and it’s one that your audience will love. A well-written checklist allows you to deliver actionable advice that’s easy for your audience to consume and actually use.
Take an activity that producers perform that may be a little confusing or has a lot of steps. Then create a detailed checklist for them to follow. It could be as simple as five or 10 things they need to do and a short sentence about why each one is important. The best part is that every time the producer uses the checklist, they are going to be thinking about you. Add a branded header and make sure the layout is clean.
3. Cheat Sheet (estimated time: 30 minutes)
Similar to checklists, creating quick cheat sheets is pretty simple. They only need to be one to two pages and focus on a highly specific topic. It can be as simple as phone scripts, an email template or questions they need to ask clients when they first meet them. Think about emails you’re always sending, phrases you constantly say on the phone or questions you’re constantly asking clients.
Producers love using something they know has already worked and requires very little work on their end (reading a script or pasting copy into an email).
4. Client Presentation (estimated time: 30 minutes)
Editable templates are valuable tools for producers, and they don’t require much work on your end. Templates give producers a backbone for creating original things on their own. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part.
There’s a good chance you’ve given a presentation in the past and that you have a couple of slide decks or PowerPoints somewhere on your computer. Once you find a client presentation, go through it and delete slides that won’t be helpful to your target audience.
5. Recorded Webinar (estimated time: 10-15 minutes)
No one said you had to create something completely from scratch. People completely love free educational seminars. One of those reasons is that they know it took you a lot of effort to develop. Why not leverage all the hard work you’ve already done to attract more leads?
Simply think of the webinars you’ve done in the past and pick one that you think your target audience will benefit from the most.
Now that you know how easy it is to become a lead magnet Jedi Master, which one are you going to create to start attracting producers? Remember what Yoda said: “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
